We are delighted to announce the first line up of events for Kildare PPN Climate Action Weekend 2024. Join us for a weekend of informative workshops, interactive discussions, and hands-on activities that empower communities to take meaningful steps towards climate resilience. We hope this weekend will be a catalyst for positive change as we unite in our commitment to address climate challenges at the local level.
Kildare Climate Action ’Our Journey’
with Paula O’Rourke, Climate Action Coordinator in Kildare County Council

This talk explores Kildare County Council Climate Action Plan 2024-2029 and how it relates to our climate action journey as individuals and community members in the county of Kildare.

Climate Justice Workshop
Friday 19th April – 11:00am
In this workshop we explore how and why climate change is a human rights and global justice issue, and explore suggest how climate action can be an act of solidarity with those in the Global South.
This workshop will be facilitated by Alex Whyatt, Global Citizenship Programme Coordinator with Global Action Plan.
This event is funded by Irish Aid’s global citizenship education funding

Empowering Homeowners on their retrofit journey with ‘yourretrofit.ie’
Friday 19th April – 2:00pm – 4:00pm
Austin Nevin from Chadwicks will be available to guide people using a new app called yourretrofit.ie, a free platform providing personalised plans for your retrofit to enable you to transform your BER and save on your energy bills.
The retrofit process often needs demystifying and homeowners require guidance regarding the complex set of choices they face. This platform is a free to use, unbiased, service which identifies the specific energy deficiencies of your home based on the contents of your BER data or our estimates if you have no BER.
This information is then condensed into simple to understand, tailor-made, advice regarding the upgrade options suitable for YOUR home and YOUR budget.
No pre-registration required, just drop in between 2:00pm and 4:00pm and bring along a copy of a recent electricity bill.

Sustainable Wardrobes
Saturday 20th April – 10:00am
Join this interactive session to learn about the environmental and social issues associated with the fashion industry and most importantly come away with all the tips to make your wardrobe more sustainable including: how to source & donate clothes sustainably, understanding fabrics and clothes care tips.
Plenty of chats and fun activities included.

Climate Friendly Foodies
Saturday 20th April – 11:30am
In this informative session you will discover the link between food and the climate crisis and you will learn about the food choices you can make that are good for you and the planet. We will share tips on how to reduce food waste, eat seasonally and introduce more plant based choices at meal time sharing some tried and tasted recipes.

Zero Waste-ish Living
Saturday 20th April – 1:15pm
Join this interactive session to get informed on the environmental issues associated with plastic and the many easy swaps you can make to live a life with less waste at home and when on the go. The Sustainable Life School will also have their Sustainable Living kit to demo all the reusables and eco products that can help your plastic-free journey.
Plenty of chats and fun activities also included.

Earth Baby Fair 2024
Saturday 20th April – 10:00am – 4:00pm
Cloth Nappy Library Ireland presents Earth Baby Fair 2024, a baby and parenting fair with a focus on sustainability. As the event is hosted by Cloth Nappy Library Ireland, it is a perfect time to talk to volunteers about modern cloth nappies – how to use them and get tips from parents who have tried and tested them on their own kids.
