Membership Criteria
- Member organisations must elect to be a member of one of the three Electoral Colleges: Social Inclusion, Community and Voluntary, or Environmental. Groups joining the Environmental College must be approved by the Irish Environmental Network.
- Member organisations not for profit, non-political and non-sectarian organisation.
- Member organisations are volunteer led (i.e. voluntary Board or Committee who are directly responsible for the organisation or group).
- Member organisations must have 3 or more members, and be open to new members.
- Member organisations must have an appropriate governance structure e.g. set of rules /constitution / financial procedures.
- Member Organisations must agree with the aims, objectives and principles of Kildare PPN.
- Member organisations must be independent, with a committee or board (not a substructure or subcommittee).
- Member Organisations must carry out their activities in an open and transparent manner.
- Member Organisations must have a base in and/or be active in Kildare.
- Member organisations must be a minimum of six months in existence for full membership. If an organisation is less than 6 months in existence, you may apply to be an associate member.
- Associate Member Organisations do not have the power to make nominations, or have voting rights, however they can put forward motions.
- A member organisation shall cease to be a member of the PPN if the organisation no longer qualifies under the conditions laid down for membership
Each member organisation must elect to be part of one of the three “colleges” of the PPN which represents the primary interest of your organisation. The colleges include: Community and Voluntary, Social Inclusion and Environmental.
Community & Voluntary
Their primary objectives focus on community responses to local issues and have activities that promote the overall wellbeing in their community.
Social Inclusion
Their primary objectives centre around working to improve the life chances and opportunities of those who are marginalised in society, living in poverty or in unemployment using community development approaches to build sustainable communities, where the values of equality and inclusion are promoted.
Environmental
Their primary focus is environmental protection and/or environmental sustainability. Organisations who wish to join the Environmental College must meet the criteria for Membership of Environment Electoral College. View the criteria here.
Associate Membership
If your organisation does not fit the membership criteria for the Kildare PPN, your organisation may apply for associate membership. Associate membership allows groups to receive information, and access consultations and training, but they do not have a vote.
