Kildare Public Participation Network extends heartfelt gratitude to PPN Representatives for their dedication in representing the voice of the community on Kildare County Council Committees.
As Kildare County Council prepares for the upcoming 2024 local elections, Kildare Public Participation Network (PPN) wish to extend our deepest gratitude to all twenty-two (22) dedicated representatives from the PPN who have served on six Strategic Policy Committees (SPCs), the joint Policing Committee, the Kildare Heritage Forum and the Drehid Liaison Committee since 2019. Their invaluable contributions have been instrumental in acting as the voice of the community on these committees.
The Strategic Policy Committees were established to enhance policy development within local authorities by incorporating diverse perspectives and expertise. These committees play a crucial role in ensuring that council policies are well-rounded and reflective of the community’s needs. By involving elected representatives, sectoral interests, and community representatives, in decision making committees ensures a collaborative approach to local governance.
Since 2019, the PPN representatives have brought a wealth of knowledge, dedication, and community insight to these committees. Their involvement has been vital in addressing a wide range of issues, from environmental sustainability and economic development to social inclusion and infrastructure planning. The nine committees, namely:
1. Economic Development, Enterprise, and Planning SPC
2. Transportation, Safety, and Emergency Services SPC
3. Housing SPC
4. Environment Services and Water SPC
5. Local Community and Cultural Development SPC
6. Climate Action SPC
7. Joint Policing Committee (JPC)
8. The Heritage Forum
9. The Drehid Liaison Committee
These committees have all benefited immensely from the diverse perspectives and expertise provided by the PPN representatives. Their input has ensured that the voices of the community are heard and considered in the decision-making processes, leading to more effective and inclusive policies.
As these committees are dissolved in preparation for the local elections, we reflect on the achievements and progress made over the past five years. This period has seen significant advancements and positive changes within Kildare, much of which can be attributed to the hard work and commitment of the PPN representatives.
We look forward to the re-establishment of these committees later this year and continuing this vital work. The reformation of these committees will once again call upon the collaboration and dedication of community representatives, ensuring that Kildare County Council continues to serve its residents effectively and inclusively.
On behalf of Kildare Public Participation Network, we express our heartfelt thanks to the twenty two (22) PPN representatives for their unwavering dedication and service. Your contributions have made a lasting impact on our community, and we are deeply grateful for your commitment to public service.
In the coming months we will be running elections within our network to elect our representatives for the coming term (2024 – 2029). For further information, please contact: Grainne Fleming Coordinator, Kildare Public Participation Network
